For client convenience, the company issues debit and credit cards, supports remote deposit capture, and offers robust online and mobile banking platforms. Additional services include night depository, direct deposit, treasury management, cashier's checks, safe deposit boxes, letters of credit, and automated teller machine (ATM) access. As of April 10, 2020, its physical network comprised 27 banking centers, with 19 situated in South Florida and 8 in Houston, Texas. The company also maintained loan production offices in Dallas, Texas, and New York. Founded in Coral Gables, Florida, in 1979, the organization was formerly known as Mercantil Bank Holding Corporation until its rebranding to Amerant Bancorp Inc. in June 2019.
