AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company specializing in the development and commercialization of therapeutic solutions for cancer patients. Its primary commercial product is FOTIVDA (tivozanib), an oral, once-daily vascular endothelial growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor approved for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Tivozanib is also under investigation for other conditions, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), immunologically cold tumors, and cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). The company has successfully concluded a Phase II clinical trial evaluating tivozanib in conjunction with Opdivo (nivolumab) for RCC. AVEO's pipeline includes Ficlatuzumab, a potent humanized immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1) monoclonal antibody designed to target hepatocyte growth factor. This candidate is currently in Phase II clinical trials for squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, pancreatic cancer, and acute myeloid leukemia. Also in development is AV-203, a potent humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody that has completed Phase I clinical trials for its efficacy against human ErbB3. Additionally, AV-380, a powerful humanized IgG1 inhibitory monoclonal antibody, is undergoing Phase I clinical trials for the management or prevention of cachexia. At the preclinical stage, AV-353 is being explored for its activity against the Notch 3 pathway. AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. maintains an extensive network of collaborations, partnering with entities such as CANbridge Life Sciences Ltd., EUSA Pharma (UK) Limited, Novartis International Pharmaceutical Ltd., Biodesix, Inc., St. Vincent's Hospital Sydney Limited, Biogen Idec International GmbH, Kyowa Kirin Co., Ltd., and AstraZeneca PLC. Established in 2001, the company initially operated as GenPath Pharmaceuticals, Inc. before adopting its current name, AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc., in March 2005.
