CMC Materials, Inc. operates globally as a key supplier of specialized consumable materials. The company primarily serves semiconductor fabrication plants and various clients within the pipeline and associated industrial sectors, boasting a broad international footprint encompassing North America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South America. The company's operations are categorized into two primary divisions: 1. Electronic Materials: This segment is dedicated to manufacturing and distributing critical supplies for the microelectronics industry. It specializes in the development, production, and sale of chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) slurries, which are essential for polishing diverse materials found in integrated circuit (IC) fabrication, such as tungsten, dielectric layers, copper, tantalum, and aluminum. This division also provides materials integral to the production of hard disk drive substrates and magnetic heads, alongside complementary CMP pads utilized in tandem with these slurries. Furthermore, this division supplies a comprehensive array of high-purity process chemicals, including various acids (sulfuric, phosphoric, nitric, hydrofluoric), ammonium hydroxide, hydrogen peroxide, isopropyl alcohol, other specialized organic solvents, and custom chemical blends. It also innovates and produces consumable cleaning solutions for advanced probe cards and test sockets. 2. Performance Materials: This segment delivers essential supplies for pipeline and industrial applications. This includes polymer-based drag-reducing agents designed for crude oil transport, along with valve greases, specialized cleaners, sealants, and associated equipment and support services. The segment also extends its offerings to routine and emergency maintenance, alongside comprehensive training programs. Additionally, it provides precision polishing and metrology systems tailored for advanced optical applications, supported by magneto-rheological polishing fluids, consumables, spare parts, and dedicated optical polishing and customer support services. A unique aspect of this segment is its involvement in the wood treatment industry. Established in 1999, the company initially operated as Cabot Microelectronics Corporation before rebranding to CMC Materials, Inc. in October 2020. Its corporate headquarters are situated in Aurora, Illinois.
