The FormulaFolios Smart Growth ETF aims to achieve its investment goals by investing in a portfolio of third-party exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Its primary focus is on growth-oriented equities of companies globally, regardless of their market capitalization, and also includes U.S. government bonds or other readily available cash. The fund employs a dynamic allocation strategy: When the adviser's analytical models indicate a positive outlook for the stock market, the ETF typically commits its entire portfolio (100%) to growth equity ETFs. Conversely, if the adviser's models forecast a market downturn, the allocation shifts to generally hold 50% in growth equity ETFs, with the other 50% invested in U.S. Treasuries or short-duration U.S. bonds to help reduce overall risk.
