Hanger, Inc. is a long-established American enterprise specializing in the provision of orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) services throughout the United States. Its business operations are segmented into two primary areas: Patient Care and Products & Services. The Patient Care division encompasses the Hanger Clinic network, which it owns and manages. These clinics excel in the custom design, fabrication, and delivery of O&P devices, serving patients directly through their extensive network of clinics and smaller satellite locations. This segment also offers vital payor network contracting services to other O&P providers. The Products & Services segment is multifaceted, focusing on the distribution of a wide array of O&P components, parts, and complete devices to independent O&P practitioners. It is also involved in the research and development of advanced rehabilitation technologies and delivers evidence-based clinical programs for post-acute rehabilitation to patients across approximately 4,000 skilled nursing and other post-acute care facilities. Additionally, this segment manufactures and sells specialized therapeutic footwear for diabetic patients within the podiatric market. As of December 31, 2021, Hanger maintained a substantial presence with approximately 760 patient care clinics and 115 satellite sites, spanning 47 states and the District of Columbia. Beyond direct patient care, the company actively distributes O&P devices and components, manages O&P networks, and provides comprehensive therapeutic solutions to both patients and businesses in acute, post-acute, and clinic environments. Originally established in Austin, Texas, in 1861, the firm was formerly known as Hanger Orthopedic Group, Inc., before officially adopting the name Hanger, Inc. in June 2012.
