Rite Aid Corporation, through its various subsidiaries, manages an extensive network of retail pharmacies across the United States. The company's business activities are structured into two main divisions: Retail Pharmacy and Pharmacy Services. The Retail Pharmacy segment focuses on dispensing prescription drugs and delivers a wide array of supplementary pharmacy and wellness services. These include administering key immunizations such as those for COVID-19, influenza, and shingles, along with providing assistance to customers managing conditions like hypertension, high cholesterol, and diabetes. It also offers advice on weight loss and quitting smoking, and educates patients on their medications and potential adverse effects. Beyond pharmaceutical care, this segment stocks a broad assortment of consumer goods, including over-the-counter medicines, personal care products, cosmetics, health and beauty aids, seasonal items, household essentials, food, beverages, greeting cards, general merchandise, and pet supplies, complemented by its own private brand line. Furthermore, it operates retail clinics and offers specialized healthcare coaching and disease management solutions to health plans and employers. In contrast, the Pharmacy Services segment provides a complete package of integrated pharmacy benefit management (PBM) offerings. These solutions comprise advanced technology systems, mail-order drug delivery, specialty pharmacy services for complex conditions, efficient network and rebate administration, claims processing, and various pharmacy discount initiatives. This segment is also responsible for managing prescription drug benefits under the federal Medicare Part D program and offering insurance plans to individuals and diverse institutional clients, such as health plans, commercial businesses, labor unions, and governmental entities at state and local levels. As of February 26, 2022, Rite Aid operated 2,450 retail pharmacy outlets spread across 17 states. Established in 1962, the corporation is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
