Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REGI) is a global provider of transportation fuels engineered to reduce carbon emissions. The company employs an integrated system, spanning production, distribution, and logistics, to convert natural fats, oils, and greases into advanced biofuels. Its operations are structured across three primary segments: Bio-Based Diesel, Services, and Corporate and Other. REGI manufactures bio-based diesel from a diverse range of low-carbon feedstocks, such as distillers corn oil, used cooking oils, inedible animal fats, as well as soybean and canola oils. In addition to its own output, the company also acquires and resells bio-based diesel from external producers. Its offerings include renewable diesel (RD) mixed with conventional petroleum diesel, environmental credits (like Renewable Identification Numbers and California Low Carbon Fuel Standard credits), raw material feedstocks sourced from third parties, processed bio-based diesel, various associated byproducts, and governmental incentive payments for renewable energy. The firm also provides comprehensive management and operational services for bio-based diesel production facilities. Furthermore, it offers construction management and general contracting expertise for the development of new bio-based diesel manufacturing plants. REGI is also involved in the trading of petroleum-based heating oil and diesel fuel, encompassing the fossil fuel component of its blended biodiesel and RD sales. As of December 31, 2021, REGI's infrastructure included eleven biorefineries, with nine located in North America and two in Europe. Founded in 1996, the company's headquarters are situated in Ames, Iowa. Since June 13, 2022, Renewable Energy Group, Inc. has been operating as a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation.
